According to the diocesan mandate, First Eucharist will be celebrated with children in the third grade. Students will be prepared for the reception of the Sacrament of the Eucharist in their religion education classes or at St. Peter Cathedral School. Prior to the reception of the sacrament, there will be two parent meetings.

Confirmation
Students to be confirmed must be a junior in high school or older. Students will participate in eight classes on the following dates. Classes will be at St. Peter Cathedral School from 10:30—12:00.
Fall session: Oct. 25 Nov. 1, 8, and 15
Spring Session: March 14 and 21 April 11 and 18
Confirmation candidates must complete 25 service hours, with at least 12 being hours to the parish community. Parish service requirements will be distributed to candidates at the first meeting. Candidate must attend a confirmation retreat with their class in the winter.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
RCIA is a process for welcoming new members into the Catholic Church and for non-Catholics who wish to know more about the Catholic Church. Classes will meet on Wednesday evenings beginning in September. The candidates are welcomed into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil.

Baptism
In order to more fully understand the Sacrament of Baptism, parents are to attend a Baptismal Preparation Class prior to the baptism of their first child. Classes are held on the third Thursday of the following months at 7:30 PM in the rectory. Please call the rectory office at 453-6677, ext. 8 to register for a class.

Baptisms are held on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at 1:00PM., except during Lent. Please call the rectory to schedule your child’s baptism.
First Reconciliation
According to diocesan policy, First Reconciliation will be administered to students in second grade. Students will be prepared for the reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation in their religion education classes or at St. Peter Cathedral School. Prior to the reception of the sacrament, there will be two parent meetings at the school.

Religious Education Classes
Classes for students attending public school will be held at the St. Peter Cathedral School at 160 West 11th Street according to the schedule below. In addition, each student will have the opportunity to participate in a grade level retreat and service project during the school year.
Registration: Students may register after the 9:15 and 11:00 Masses on Sunday, September 13th in the Synod Hall and on Sunday, September 20th at St. Peter Cathedral School, or by calling Miss Hund at 452-4276 or 450-3711.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word
Children ages 4-7 are welcome to attend Children’s Liturgy of the Word the 9:15AM Sunday liturgy. Children will be called forward by the presiding priest after the opening prayer. The children will be led by a team of parents to help them understand the Word of God. The children will rejoin their family for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
