There are MANY traditions that St. Peter’s Eighth Graders have the opportunity to enjoy. Toward the end of the year the events become somewhat overwhelming. The following list has been created to give you a summary of what to anticipate for the upcoming school year. 8th Grade Dues: Each eighth grader is responsible for payment of dues. This year they are $125.00. This covers a variety of events including: class trip, class t-shirt, graduation cap and gown. You may pay these at one time (preferred, if possible) or make payments in installments. Payment must be received by March 1st. Checks are to be made payable to “St. Peter Cathedral School”. PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD GIVE THEM TO THEIR HOMEROOM TEACHER! If they are sent to the business office, we may not get a record of the payment. Shadow Days: The school will set up shadow days at each of the high schools; Villa, Mercyhurst, and Prep. Please have your child shadow on these days, if possible. More information will come home and be posted on our web page as the dates are set. Biography Tea: After completing a biography of an elder in the family, the eight graders invite their “subject” to a reception at school. Each student reads an excerpt of his/her biography and presents the book to his/her guest. A light reception will follow. The date for this is Aprl 1, 2011 at 1:00. This is a dress-up day for the students. 8th Grade retreat: May 12th is the last retreat for the 8th graders. Dress is casual. Tureen Dinner: May 19th the eighth graders and their parents (please, parents only) will be invited to a tureen dinner at school. At this time we all will have the opportunity to view the class memory video. After the dinner, the students are invited to stay for a dance. This, too, is a dress-up event for the students. Class Trip: May 25th the students will spend the day on their class trip. The destination will be determined by the students from several choices. This is a full and exciting day for the class to bond. Dress will be casual but, for safety reasons, we allow no open back shoes. 8th Grade Mass: June 6th, at
Graduation: June 6th at There will be more information on each event as the date draws near. We look forward to an exciting year for your child.
