Youth

Pope Benedict XVI hope for youth

"My appeal to you, young people is this, DO NOT WASTE YOUR YOUTH.  Do not seek to escape it, but live it intensely.  You, young people, are not just the future of the Church and humanity, but the present!  The Church needs you, as young people, to manifest to the world the face of Jesus Christ, visible in the Christian community. Without this young face, the Church would appear disfigured."

Pope John Paul II challenge to youth

”Young Pilgrims, Christ needs you to enlighten the world and show it the path of life. Place your intelligence, your talents, your enthusiasm, your compassion, and your fortitude at the service of life. The Church needs your energies, your compassion, your youthful ideals in order to make the Gospel of life penetrate the fabric of society, transforming people’s hearts and the structures of society in order to create a civilization of true justice and love.”

YOUTH STRONG Ministry Statement

We, the youth of the Cathedral Parish, want to live our baptismal call and be faithful disciples of Christ. We gather together to grow in our faith and in holiness. We seek to live our faith by sharing our gifts and talents to build up our parish community, and serve those in need in the name of our parish to ease their burden. May our words and actions give glory to God.

The Diocese of Erie is committed to protecting the children and youth who are entrusted to its care and to ensuring that those in ministry with our young people are in right relationship with the children/youth receiving services. To share in the ministry of Christ is a great privilege as well as a tremendous responsibility. The privilege is the joy of sharing in the mission of Jesus Himself. The responsibility is acting in a way that conforms to the attitude and actions of Christ. In this spirit, the diocese has issued a ministerial Code of Conduct, which can be accessed at http://www.eriercd.org/pdf/codeofconduct.pdf. The code is included in the diocesan Policy for the Protection of Children, which also includes mandates for creating safe environments. To read the policy, go to http://www.eriercd.org/pdf/policyabuse.pdf For more information, contact Miss Karen Hund at 452-4276.
